The Bridge extends Housing Advice Service in the community! More families with children under the age of five are set to benefit from The Bridge’s Housing Advice Service as it has now launched the service in three additional community areas within Charnwood.
The Bridge has an outstanding reputation for delivering advice, assistance and advocacy on all housing related matters to residents of the borough. After successfully launching the new outreach service in Surestart Children’s Centres in Charnwood last year, The Bridge is pleased to announce that it has extended this into the heart of the communities at the Marios Tinenti Centre on Russell Street, Syston Library on Upper St and the Altogether Place on Warwick Way.
The service, funded through Charnwood’s Surestart Children’s Centre Programme, is already provided every week in Mountsorrel, Shepshed, and Cobden Street Children’s Centres.
The service provides specialist housing advice and concentrates not only on preventing homelessness but also looks to address the underlying causes. Issues that the service can help with include risk of homelessness, rent/mortgage arrears, prevention of eviction/unlawful eviction, Housing Benefit issues, anti-social behaviour matters and advice on housing options. Providing this service in local centres makes it easier for young families to access specialist help without having to travel in to town.
Jennifer, a single mum of two children from Shepshed, approached the service after she got into mortgage arrears. She was extremely concerned that she may lose her home, and didn’t know what options were open to her to try and prevent this. After seeing an advisor she said: “this is a fantastic service, really helpful and I would definitely come back for further advice.”
Families can make an appointment to access this service by contacting us direct.
