World Homeless Day October 10th 2011
Local primary schools support The Bridge
Several local primary schools in Charnwood joined staff and people all over the world to celebrate World Homeless Day. The Bridge produced wristbands for the children in a vibrant red, printed with ‘Support The Bridge during World Homeless Day’. Some schools used the day to allow children the chance to dress up as Disney characters, wear ‘odd’ clothes or as a non school uniform day. Several schools held an assembly to celebrate the day and Caroline Howell and Mel Gould from The Bridge spoke at the assembly’s helping the children understand the impact of homelessness on people both in the UK and abroad. They also spoke about the work of The Bridge and it’s role in combating homelessness and housing issues.
Our thanks go to all those who took part and for the monies raised. Any school wishing to support The Bridge next year or indeed later in the year by fundraising, should contact Caroline Howell on 01509 260500 or caroline.howell@bridgehousingservices.com
